Ruth Matchett

Retired - South Africa

August 14, 1921 - April 23, 2008

Ruth was born in Rossburg to Anderson and Myrtle Pearson Matchett. Survivors are an adopted son Hudson of South Africa and several nieces and nephews.

Ruth served as a missionary nurse in Africa for 41 years, where she delivered over 5,000 infants. She also served as an instructor of student nurses; was in charge of a busy clinic; and her house became an orphanage. She also opened several preaching points which led to new churches.

She was She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene, Fort Recovery. She was a 1940 graduate of Fort Recovery High School and attended Olivet College, Kankakee, Ill. and received her nurses training at Samaritan School of Nursing, Nampa, Idaho.
