Get Acquainted:
Emily enjoys music (piano), crafts, flowers (gardening), and reading! That is, if there is time left over from answering e-mails, checking her Facebook page, preparing a 4-page colorful folder for the weekly retired missionary prayer meeting here at Casa Robles, and preparing PowerPoint presentations and sermons to promote missions in the local churches in southern Calfornia and Mexico.
Emily describes her call to missions as "God opened my eyes to the need to evangelize the world from reading missionary books, and from age nine, accompanying my pastor father on his evangelistic trips to remote villages of central Guatemala. That vision has never faded to this day." |

Prayer Requests:
A primary concern for Emily was Harold's health. The Lord answered that prayer by taking Harold home on March 15, 2010. Please pray for Emily as she and her family adjust to life without Harold. |

In Memory of Harold:
Harold described his call as "I was preparing to go to the University of Arizona to be an electronics engineer, but while praying at the altar in the Las Vegas First Church of the Nazarene, I heard God clearly indicating that I should go to Pasadena Nazarene College instead. The first semester I went with a group from the college to hold a service in a Mexican church near L.A., and knew that afternoon that God intended for me to learn Spanish. In Feb. I preached my first sermon in Spanish in that same church, with 5 new converts, which confirmed my call."
Instead of studying electronics engineering, Harold earned a BA from Pasadena Nazarene College, with majors in Religion, Speech and Spanish. This was followed by linguistic courses, Greek and Hebrew at NTS and a Masters in Spanish at U.of Texas. All of his ministry since age 18 has been in Spanish.
Harold’s primary responsibility while he and Emily served in the MAC Region Office in Guatemala City was as the Literature Coordinator for Mexico, Central America and Panama. This included the preparation, printing and distribution of massive amounts of literature throughout the Region.
Harold's interest in electronics never left him. While retired at Casa Robles he continued to minister through building and maintaining computers for the other residents of Casa Robles. |
