RE: e-mail from Doug Flemming

Greetings NMI District Presidents and Broadcast Coordinators:

I received the following e-mail this morning from Doug Flemming, Regional Communications Coordinator for the Asia-Pacific Region. I was encouraged to read about the long-time ministry and reach of World Mission Broadcast's radio program, Awake with the Angels, and I thought you would be too.

Please remember that it is the involvement and financial support of churches on your districts that make it possible for Awake with the Angels to stay on the air.

Thank you for all you have done to encourage churches to participate in this year's offering for World Mission Broadcast. Please feel free to forward this e-mail on to your local pastors and NMI presidents. And... take a moment to click on the embedded links. These links will take you to the web-sites of the organizations that work together to make Awake with the Angels a faithful late night companion for thousands of people.

In Christ,

Rick Guilfoil, Director
WMB

World Mission Broadcast Program Remains a Faithful Late Night Companion for University Students
By WMC-AP Correspondent

For twelve years now, World Mission Broadcast programs on the Asia-Pacific Region have been a source of companionship, encouragement and hope for millions of university students. In partnership with Transworld Radio, we continue to support the program "Awake with the Angels" (AWTA) which was designed specifically for university students in places where there was little or no access to other forms of instruction or encouragement, including conventional radio, TV, publications or fellowships. Even today, after many years of development, many places, especially rural areas, still rely on short-wave broadcasts for information from the outside world.  In the cities, of course, this is rapidly changing.  Most urban citizens, including university students, have access to computers and the internet.  There are some websites with sensitive political or religious content that are blocked.  But the majority of online information is freely accessible, including websites that provide Life-giving nurture, inspiration & downloadable content.  For this reason, TWR is putting many of its broadcasts on the world wide web. The same programs that are recorded for radio broadcast can be listened to online.

AWTA continues to be one of the most popular programs aired by TWR.  This is based on listener response in the form of postal letters, emails & web-based responses.  TWR has staff who respond to every letter received--answering questions, providing counsel and directing people to appropriate passages in the Word.

The listeners of AWTA and the staff of TWR wish to extend their appreciation to all the faithful supporters of World Mission Broadcast.
