About Us | Eight Agreed Statements | Our Purpose | Our Values

Every organization that endures over time is based on a deeply shared combination of purpose, belief, and values. So it is with the Church of the Nazarene. It was founded to transform the world by spreading scriptural holiness (Christ-like living). It is both a Great Commission church and a Holiness church at the same time. Our mission is to make Christlike disciples of all nations.

Each local congregation of the Church of the Nazarene is a faith community, ready to greet you in Jesus' name. There you will discover opportunities not only to encounter Jesus as your Savior and Lord, but to grow as a follower of Christ. Local churches offer ministry opportunities for serving others. Fellowship, worship, training and education are all part of our life together in Christ. With over 83 congregations all over central and southeast Ohio, our vision and mission embraces the entire world. We invite you to experience the unique fellowship of your nearby Church of the Nazarene.

Commentary

Extract from the outgoing District Superintendent's report to the District Assembly:

The total population of the Central Ohio District is over 2 million, and almost 1.5 million are unclaimed by any church. If we are to reach these people for Christ we must first raise up a generation of Spirit-filled, Spirit-anointed, dedicated leaders. Eveyr church at every level must be intentionally involved. In sunday swchool classes, small groups, children's and teen camps and worship servcies we must challenge new leaders to follow Christ. Pastoral staff and Sunday School teachers must serve as mentors, transferring to these new leaders a flaming desire for God.

The district must continue to provide the necessary guidance, assessment and educational resources for these leaders. Above all else, individuals need to hear the voice of God, "Whom shall I send?" People are needed who see through the harvest eyes of Jesus and say, "Here am I, send me!"

Dr Richard Jordan
